Mentor U Announces these panels open to all:

Service Provider Panel
 
Date: March 31, 2012 Time: 9 am-12 pm Location:Wyneken Hall room 101; Concordia Seminary, 801 Seminary Place, Clayton, MO 63105.
 
Cost: $5 for current students before March 20, $10 at the door; $10 for interpreters and members of the Deaf Community before March 15, $15 after and at the door. Mail to Deaf Services, 10537 Stephenson Dr., St Louis 63128

Members of the professional service community will present their experiences serving the D/deaf in a variety of settings - education, vocational, video relay and state relay services. Members of the community will learn first-hand about these various services and how they benefit the D/deaf and their families. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and be involved in a discussion with the presenters as part of the Panel Presentation.
 
This Panel presentation workshop will be presented in English and interpreted by Deaf Services' Mentor U Interns as part of their Course requirements. Please contact Susan Power at susan@deafservicesstlouis.com if additional special accommodations are needed. The workshop will be cancelled ONLY in the event of inclement weather. Members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community and Interpreters will discuss what life was like before the profession of interpreting was established. With CODAs and Deaf adults, we will explore the challenges and the triumphs of the evolution of the interpreting profession.

This Panel presentation workshop will be presented in English and ASL. Members of the Deaf community will explain an interesting facet of their life as a Deaf American living in St. Louis. This panel will be conducted in Sign Language and interpreted by the Mentor U interns as part of their Course requirements.
